6 May,  2012
Dear Old Dominion Zeesters,
The OBX CruZ last weekend was a great success. Rich and Claire Broughton did their beast as always to make it a fantastic event. The event raised over $9,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Look for article about the Cruz in forthcoming issues of the CruiZin’ NewZ.

BMW Sport
OK, so it’s not exactly Z-Series related, but BMW are making great strides since their return to DTM racing.Bruno Spengler gave BMW its first DTM win for 20 years after resisting extreme race-long pressure from Gary Paffett's Mercedes at Lausitz.

A rocket start from Paffett from third on the grid brought him onto the tail of polesitter Spengler at the first corner of the race, and the pair were able to pull away from the pursuing back during the early stages.
While the gap between the two stabilized at under a second for most of the race, Schnitzer driver Spengler was able to crucially increase his advantage to around 1.5sec as both rounds of mandatory pit stops approached. This meant that despite the HWA team twice giving Paffett a quicker pit stop and the British driver producing better in and out laps than his rival, Spengler was just able to keep the lead.
Championship leader Paffett spent the last 16 laps right on his rival's trunklid; the gap never increasing beyond 0.6sec. But he was unable to mount a passing move. He lost any chance of passing Spengler when he braked slightly too late at Turn 1 on the final lap, bumping over the Ludwig curbs and dropping more than 1sec behind.
That ensured that Spengler took his 10th DTM victory and the first for BMW since Roberto Ravaglia's double win at Hockenheim in October 1992 – also in a Schnitzer-run car.

20 April 2012
Dear Old Dominion Zeesters,

If this sounds like fun you you too, then join us for the Spring CruZe tomorrow (details below).

I got the Zed back from the shop today, just in time for tomorrow’s event, but I’ll save the details for conversation over lunch, or maybe a brew at the Rose & Crown in New Kent Village after the run.
